MICROBLADING

How long does microblading last?

Microblading typically lasts anywhere from 1-3 years depending on a person's skin type; normal, oily, dry and age.  You will require annual/bi-annual touch up appointments to maintain your look or your brows will fade back to their original state.

What is the difference between microblading and a tattoo?

Microblading pigments are implanted 3 layers into the skin while a traditional tattoo is 9.  Microblading does not use a machine and is less painful.  It uses freezing which makes the process more comfortable than a traditional eyebrow tattoo.

What is the healing process of microblading?

There is physically no down time required after microblading; you can have the process done and continue on with your day.  It takes approximately 10 days for the brows to heal over and 3-4 weeks for the colour to fully set.  During the healing time, brows can scab, appear patchy and flake but this is all expected and normal.  Colour will fade anywhere from 20-50% depending on the individual.  This is why your brows will not be complete until after your 6 week touch up.

How is the correct colour chosen?

The colour chosen for you will be custom mixed; based on your skin undertone as well the colour of your natural eyebrow and your natural hair colour.

How is the shape of the eyebrow chosen?

Before the microblading process commences, a full analysis will take place to measure where the points of your brow should symmetrically aline with your facial features. This will determine the shape of brow that best suits your face and will map out the microblading session.

Is a 6 week touch up necessary?

ABSOLUTELY!

Like a traditional tattoo, an individual will hold or retract the ink/colour used differently and will see it fade anywhere from 20-50%.  At your 6 week touch up, colour can be adjusted, darkened, etc. based on healing.  As your technician I can not safely penetrate the same strokes more than twice in a sitting, therefore, some areas will need further penetration to have an evenness of colour throughout your brow.  We can also adjust thickness, shape, etc. if desired.  You can always add but can never take away!

What tool is used for microblading?

Microblading uses a hand held tool also known as a pen.  The hand tool is made up of tiny attached needles and is used to insert pigment into the upper layers of the skin, manually.

What not to do before microblading?

The day of treatment do not drink coffee, alcohol or energizing drinks.  Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 24 hours before treatment.  Do not get botox or other facial injections less than 2 weeks prior to your microblading session.

Who is NOT a candidate for microblading?

Pregnant or breastfeeding women.  Women with diabetes.  Women prone to keloid scaring.  Women with extreme oily skin or other skin conditions in the brow area.  Women who are undergoing chemotherapy or those with allergies to alcohol or numbing agents.
